    Confidence Is Not A Trick

    The reason all "confidence boosting exercises", and "Dominance techniques" don't work is because you're making the very simple mistake of trying to plant seed in bad soil. No amount of affirmations, exercises, work out routines or content on Youtube, Instagram And Tiktok, can outdo the fact that deep down... you don't really trust yourself.


    Trust Precedes Confidence

      Think about it, you can only have confidence in something that you first have trust in. You wouldn't be confident in walking down a street with what appear to be shady and violent characters at 3am at night, you wouldn't want the pilot of your plane to be fresh out of pilot school, you wouldn't eat food out of a dirty kitchen etc. 


      If confidence precedes action, then trust precedes confidence. If you don't see yourself as trustworthy, then you cannot believe in yourself.

    How Do You See Yourself?

       The way you see yourself and how you emotionally and psychologically respond to that image you have of yourself, is the very foundation of true belief in yourself. It is impossible to create and sustain real confidence if deep down, you see yourself as unworthy.

        We don't usually think about it like this, but just like we gain or lose trust for others according to our perception of them and what they do in our eyes, we also subject ourselves to that same level of scrutiny in our own eyes.


     We can do things to earn and lose trust in ourselves, which also, affects not just the level of respect we have for ourselves, but the degree of belief we have in our ability to achieve certain things. 


       So the solution is rather simple; Earn your own trust and respect back by first, putting to a stop all the negative habits that made you lose trust in yourself in the first place, then by planting newer, more fruitful ideas in a brand new soil. 


    I'm Not Just Saying This...

    I Speak From Experience

      After losing my girlfriend, job, friend group and life savings, all in the space of a week, my confidence was at an all time low, I was lost, felt helpless and Hopeless, I constantly doubted my own decisions. I saw myself as unworthy of respect, and the worst of all, I ACTED LIKE IT.  


    Here's what happened...

    I Was Quarantined BEFORE The Pandemic

      It was 2018 when I had my worst week of my life, in July of that same year. I had made the very costly mistake of dating a co-worker, but not just any co-worker, the one that my boss at the time had had his eye on for quite some time. Once things went sour between us, it all went downhill from there. 


      Despite knowing better, even at the time, I didn't exactly take the break up too well, so clearly she didn't feel comfortable working with me anymore. She reported me to HR and I was let go in a matter of days. My performance at work had already taken a nose dive weeks prior to this point because of the psychological and emotional stress I was under, all because I could sense the relationship was slipping from under my grasp and I couldn't do anything to stop it. And yes, there was both my boss and an ex involved.

      

      So getting fired was something I was already preparing myself for anyway, but I didn't think it would happen that soon. I still remember the slight smirk my boss had on his face when he let me know that my services were no longer needed at the company. 

    In Short...

    I Was A Shell Of Myself


      I was depressed, underweight, hopeless, reactive, broke and bitchless. I had lost my only source of income, meaningful relationships, my dignity/self respect, will to live and even my sanity, all in the space of 7 DAYS. It was the worst week of my life, and the following 18 months were no better.


       

    No Confidence=Terrible Decision Making


      Just like that, I had lost my source of income, girlfriend and confidence, which created a ripple effect that sent a nasty shock wave through the entire of my life. I made nothing but questionable and even straight up bad decisions from this point on. In my state of panic, dissolution and desperation, I came up with the bright idea to use my last paycheck from my previous job (all the money I had left to my name), to start a business. Needless to say, that did not go as planned. 


      Fast forward a year later, I had completely failed at business, I was behind on all my bills, in debt thousands of dollars, facing eviction from my tiny studio apartment, had used up every favor or burned every bridge I had due to self sabotage, I couldn't even afford to feed myself so I had to go days without eating anything.  


       I was at rock bottom and somehow going even deeper. I felt like I had no way out and it was too late for me to turn things around. The sheer amount of shame I was struggling with on a daily basis was crippling. not being able to afford anything, not being mobile enough to go anyway, not even being able to go out on fun dates, I was devastated. 


      Until...

    My "Out Of Body" Experience

    The Outside Perspective

      I was determined to get my ish together, so I found every resource available pertaining to self help, money, manifestation,  positive thinking and got to work.  I spent the next 30 days doing nothing but reading, taking notes and implementing what I was reading. the only time I left my house was to go to the nearby public library for the wifi (because at this point I had none at home). I had about 60 days to figure it all out before I was out on the streets so motivation was not an issue at this point. 


      At the end of that 30 day sprint, I was even more burned out, anxious and stressed than I initially was before I started. I felt way worse too. None of the meditation, the mantras, the affirmations, the visualizations or even the vision boarding had worked. I was just filed with anxiety all the time. I was ready to give up completely and I was actually in the process of selling off all my things to make my eventual move as light as possible. But then I came across something. 


      In my search for a way out of the hell I had found myself in, I began to take account of my daily actions and habits. I had read it in a book that it was hard to solve your own problems because you have a first-person Point-of-view and experience of them, kind of like how it's easier to see who to pass the ball to in a football match when you're looking from an overhead view, versus if you were actually on the field playing in the match. 


    I very quickly began to realize that I was doing all the right things on paper, but none of it was actually working. And the reason was obvious too: I didn't even trust myself while I was doing all these things. Sure I was structuring my day better and doing higher value activity, but I was doing them from a place of complete self doubt and an inability to see myself as the man that was deserving of the life I was working towards. 


       I was essentially trying to plant good seeds in rotten soil and that was why I was in such a rut. It was clear to me that the bulk of my effort should actually go into revitalizing my soil by changing my core beliefs about myself. I needed to earn my trust back and renew my self image so that I would actually believe myself when I said "I'll make it out of this".

       

       In just 20 days, I had caught up on every bill and in about 2 months after that, I I was ahead on them.
